Hello, so I found an interesting little trick to pick out the themes you can concentrate on when reading your chart or someone else’s. I got it from Stephen Arroyo’s book Astrology, Karma & Transformation. I’m not sure if he went into detail explaining it the way I did, I just read a section of it and he talks about numbering the principles like this, so I thought I’d lay it out.
So, we will be numbering the pieces of the chart like this:
1 = Aries/1st House/Mars
2 = Taurus/2nd House/Venus
3 = Gemini/3rd House/Mercury
4 = Cancer/4th House/Moon
5 = Leo/5th House/Sun
6 = Virgo/6th House/Mercury
7 = Libra/7th House/Venus
8 = Scorpio/8th House/Pluto
9 = Sagittarius/9th House/Jupiter
10 = Capricorn/10th House/Saturn
11 = Aquarius/11th House/Uranus
12 = Pisces/12th House/NeptuneNow, going through the planets, you can list the number of the sign and house they are in. So the list (if you want to go in order) will go 5, 4, 3/6, 2/7, 1, 9, 10, 11, 12. After each of these numbers has 2 numbers following it, go through your aspects and add them to the list. For example, if I have Pluto in Scorpio in the 7th house, and my Pluto makes aspects with my Moon, Venus, and Mars, it will look like this: 8 - 8, 7, 4, 2/7, 1. Once you’ve done this for all of the planets, you can go through the list and see which one has numbers repeating. For instance, with Pluto, the number 7 pops up twice. So the fact that you have Pluto in the 7th house, and Pluto aspecting Venus means that this is a theme in your chart.
I hope this makes sense!! I just did it for my own chart and came up with 4 themes. Maybe it will make things clearer if I share them:
Moon in 3rd house, Moon Square Mercury
Venus in Aries, Venus Semi-sextile Mars
Mars in Pisces, Mars Sextile Neptune
Pluto in 2nd house, Pluto inconjunct VenusSo this is something I’m going to look into. Basically it’s just pointing out if there is a double-emphasis in your chart on a relationship between two principles. I’m assuming there could also be a triple-emphasis, like Mars in Cancer in the 4th House, Square the Moon. Obviously you could do this just by looking over the chart but I thought this was a nice little way of doing it in an orderly fashion.
Let me know if this is helpful!
I sometimes find, and I am sure you know the feeling, that I simply have too many thoughts and memories crammed into my mind…. At these times… I use the Pensieve. One simply siphons the excess thoughts from one’s mind, pours them into the basin, and examines them at one’s leisure.
opia (n.)- the intensity of looking someone straight in the eye, their eyes glittering and bottomless, which can leave you feeling vulnerable
mood: parvati and padma being more impressed by hermione than by harry and ron
Well, times like that bring out the best in some people, and the worst in others
